Rooted in Community: Supporting Raleigh-Durham Families Through the Little Oaks Community Fund

A group of women and children gather around a Little Oaks maternal wellness booth at an outdoor market with a sign promoting fundraising for community care.

Parenthood is a beautiful transition, but it can also be an incredibly vulnerable one. Families can find themselves navigating sleepless nights, physical recovery, feeding challenges, emotional changes, unexpected complications, and the enormous adjustment that comes with bringing a new baby home.

For some families, having additional support can make a meaningful difference. But professional postpartum and family support is not always financially accessible, especially when a family is already facing unexpected expenses, reduced income, or other challenges.

That is why I created the Little Oaks Community Fund.

The fund is rooted in a simple belief: families deserve a village, and financial circumstances should not be the reason someone has to navigate early parenthood without support.

What Will the Community Fund Provide?

Funds through this community campaign will help provide financial assistance to eligible local families who need additional support during pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and the early months of caring for a newborn or young child.

Support may be used toward services such as:

  • Postpartum doula support, including daytime and overnight care
  • Newborn and infant care support for families who need an extra set of hands
  • Postpartum planning and education
  • Newborn Basics education and family preparation
  • Family coaching and guidance during the transition into parenthood
  • Other essential family support services offered through Little Oaks Child & Family Collective

The goal is not to replace the support provided by family, friends, healthcare professionals, or community organizations. Instead, the fund is intended to help fill gaps when a family needs additional support and resources are limited.

Why Community Support Matters

Sometimes the difference between a family feeling overwhelmed and a family feeling supported is simply having someone there to say, “You don’t have to do this alone.”

A few hours of postpartum support can give a recovering parent the opportunity to rest. Overnight support can allow exhausted parents to get much-needed sleep. Newborn education can give a new parent confidence. And having someone knowledgeable to turn to can help families feel less isolated during a season that can be both rewarding and challenging.

I believe that supporting families early has a ripple effect. When parents are supported, they have more opportunity to rest, recover, connect with their babies, and build confidence in their new roles.

Building a Village in the Raleigh-Durham Community

Little Oaks Child & Family Collective was created around the idea of rooted beginnings and strong families. The Community Fund is an extension of that mission.

This is more than a fundraising campaign. It is an invitation for our Raleigh-Durham community to come together and help create a stronger village for local families.

Every contribution, regardless of size, helps make it possible to extend support to a family who may otherwise have to go without.

And if you are unable to contribute financially, sharing this campaign, connecting us with a family who may benefit, or helping spread the word is also meaningful support.

Help Us Grow the Village

Together, we can create a community where families don’t have to choose between essential support and financial stability.

Your support can help a local family feel a little more rested, a little more confident, and a lot less alone.
